Chairman of the Board, Equal Justice Under Law Institute of Indiana, Inc.

A public interest, not-for-profit law center which has addressed cases dealing with Constitutional questions, particularly public educational issues, home school issues and First Amendment matters.   

Chairman of the Board, Decency in Broadcasting, Inc.  An organization of concerned parents, educators, pastors and others, who have sought to improve radio and television broadcasting.  Brought successful petition to Federal Communications Commission which led to FCC fining WFBQ-FM, Indianapolis, for indecent broadcast material. 

1997-1998  Candidate for Republican nomination for United States Senate – missed      nomination by approximately one vote per precinct.

1990  Counsel for Rensselaer School Board in Berger v. Rensselaer  School Corporation

•  U.S. District Court & 7th Circuit Court of Appeals (Petition for Writ of Cert to U.S. Supreme Court denied).  Case involved prohibition of distribution of Gideon Bibles to 5th graders in School System. 
   

•  1993  Counsel for five students in Ostler, et al v. Frankfort School Corporation, U.S. District Court. Case involved restrictions by school on students’ voluntary prayer at commencement ceremonies. 
   

•  1997  Counsel for parents in case of Mays, et al v. Indiana Department of Education, Marion County Superior Court.  Case involved state achievement test inquiring into religious beliefs and social practices of students taking the test; as well as alerts sent to prosecutors based upon answers to test questions. (Funding in part by ADF) 
   

•  2001  Counsel  for Plaintiffs in Linnemeir, et al v. Board of Trustees of Purdue University (IPFW-Fort Wayne), U.S. District Court. To restrain taxpayer funding of State attacks on religion in stage play “Corpus Christi”. Decided on appeal by 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. 
   

•  2003  Counsel for Janis Price (no relation) in Price vs. DePauw University, Putnam County Circuit Court. Suit to challenge demotion of DU instructor for making Christian magazine available to students in classroom. Jury verdict for Plaintiff; reversed on appeal.  
   

•  2006  Counsel for former Indianapolis Star Editorial Board Members James Patterson and Lisa Coffey, who were terminated by Gannett upon its purchase of Star for their religious beliefs and writings. Patterson and Coffey vs. Indianapolis Star and Gannett, U.S. District Court, Southern District of Indiana. 

•  2006-7  Participating Counsel, with the Rutherford Institute, for Plaintiffs in Rhodes vs. Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Indiana. Suit challenges use of psychological screening test for teens, without parental authorization, and without medically trained screeners.
